Frequently Asked Questions
Sartorial fabric versus knitted gloves: what's the difference?
Sartorial fabric has body, structure and hold, like a suit jacket. Knitted gloves have relaxed elasticity and a more casual look. Our wool is bonded to the lining at the seam, so it doesn't slip or bunch; constructed like a leather glove, not like a sock.
Which fabrics do you use?
Fine wools and cashmere from Vitale Barberis Canonico (Biella, weaving Italian wool since 1663) and Holland & Sherry (Savile Row, the standard for British suiting), the same cloths used for suits and overcoats.
Are they warm?
Yes for transitional and moderate cold. The combination of structured wool and soft cashmere provides warmth without the bulk of a thick lining. For deep winter, cashmere-lined leather offers more insulation per millimetre.
How do I clean wool gloves?
Brush off lint and dust after each wear with a soft clothing brush. Spot-clean only with a damp cloth and plain water. For deeper cleaning, dry-clean. Do not wash, soak or iron; the bonded lining can deform.
What size should I order?
Measure the circumference of your dominant hand at the knuckles. View the men's size guide for the full method. Wool has very little stretch; pick your true size rather than going down.
MEN’S GLOVE SIZE GUIDE
Finding your perfect fit is easy. Follow these two simple steps to measure your hand:
- Measurement A (Hand Length): Measure from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger.
- Measurement B (Palm Circumference): Wrap a soft tape measure around your palm, just below the knuckles (excluding the thumb).
Tip: Use a printable ruler or tailor’s tape for best accuracy.

Men's Sartorial Fabric Gloves
Suit grade, glove cut
Cut like a true tailored accessory and hand-stitched in Naples, these gloves are made to belong with the suit, the overcoat, the tweed jacket and the most elegant men's wardrobe. A non-leather alternative that is formal and structured, far from the casual register of knitted gloves.
Sartorial cloth, glove construction: these gloves are born from the same materials used for suits, overcoats and jackets: fine wools, cashmere and selected blends chosen for hand, body and the ability to hold a clean line. Vitale Barberis Canonico has woven Italian wool in Biella since 1663, supplying tailors in Naples, Milan and Savile Row. Holland & Sherry is the standard for British suiting, the cloth that built Savile Row.
Tailored, not knitted: in a sartorial glove the fabric is not a simple covering: it needs body, hold and a pleasing hand. Cashmere adds softness and warmth; wool provides structure and resistance. The cloth is bonded to the lining inside the seam, no slipping, no bunching. The fit at month twelve is the fit at month one.
When to wear them: ideal with suits, overcoats, tweed jackets, wool blazers and tailored cuts. They stay sharp where knitted gloves slouch, the non-leather pair for the fully dressed look.
