Frequently Asked Questions

What is carpincho leather?

Carpincho is the South American capybara, the world's largest rodent. Its hide produces leather marked by visible round pores arranged in clusters of three, soft to the touch and notably water-resistant. Hunted under regulated quotas, supplied in small lots.

Why are the pores in groups of three?

Capybara hair grows in tight clusters of three follicles. When the hide is tanned and finished, the empty follicle marks remain as the visible round pores. The pattern is unmistakable and verifies authenticity.

Where does carpincho come from?

From regulated hunts in South America, in particular Argentina, Paraguay and parts of Brazil, according to local quotas and population-management policies.

Is it really water-repellent?

Yes. Capybara leather has natural water-repellent properties, one of the reasons it is valued as a glove leather. Light rain is fine; avoid prolonged soaking.

How do I care for carpincho gloves?

Blot dry with a soft cloth if wet, air-dry at room temperature, condition lightly with leather cream once a season. Avoid prolonged soaking.

What size should I order?

Measure the circumference of your dominant hand at the knuckles. View the men's size guide for the full method. Carpincho softens but doesn't stretch significantly; pick your true size.

Capybara hide, distinctive grain

Carpincho comes from the South American capybara, the largest rodent in the world. Its hide is soft to the touch, resistant, naturally water-repellent and recognisable by the characteristic round pores arranged in groups of three. Rare on the global market, it is processed in small batches and turned into a few dozen pairs each year.

Regulated hunting and supply: carpincho is sourced from regulated hunts in South America, in particular Argentina, Paraguay and parts of Brazil, according to local quotas and availability. Hides are tanned and supplied in small lots; for this reason production is not continuous, but follows the selected raw material that reaches Naples.

Why pick carpincho: choosing carpincho means choosing a rare, soft, water-repellent and visually unique leather. Different from nappa and peccary in pattern, hand-feel and presence, it gives the glove an authentic, recognisable character.

Cashmere-lined, hand-stitched: every pair is hand-cut and stitched in Naples following the Neapolitan glove-making tradition, lined in cashmere for warmth and comfort. Built to last and to stand apart with discretion.
