Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find my glove size?
Take two measurements on your dominant hand. Measurement A: hand length from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Measurement B: palm circumference just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb. Sizes range from XS (glove size 7.5, A: 17.5-18 cm, B: 17-18 cm) to XXL (glove size 10, A: 22.5-23 cm, B: 26-27 cm). If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose the larger one. A slightly snug fit is correct: leather molds to your hand over time and will become more comfortable with wear.
What is peccary leather?
Peccary is widely considered the finest glove leather in the world: sourced from wild boar, it has a distinctive grain, exceptional durability, and a natural elasticity that makes it feel custom-made from the very first time you wear it. Compared to Nappa, which is smooth and supple lambskin, and Nubuck, which is buffed calfskin with a fine velvety surface, Peccary is the most exclusive choice for those who demand the highest quality available.
Which lining is warmest?
Pure cashmere offers the highest warmth-to-weight ratio and is the most luxurious option for cold weather. Cashmere-wool blends are slightly more durable and nearly as warm. Silk lining adds minimal warmth but makes gloves much easier to slide on and off, making it the preferred choice for formal or transitional styles. Unlined gloves are intended for driving or mild weather and do not provide significant insulation.
Are leather gloves waterproof?
Full-grain leather is naturally water-resistant to light rain and splashes, but it is not waterproof. Prolonged exposure to water will damage the leather and the lining. If your gloves get wet, reshape them and allow them to dry naturally away from direct heat. Applying a leather protector spray before the first wear adds an extra layer of water resistance.
Do leather gloves stretch over time?
Yes. Quality leather gradually conforms to the shape of your hand with wear, becoming more comfortable over time. This is why a snug fit at purchase is correct: a glove that feels slightly tight at first will relax into a perfect fit after a few wears. Avoid buying a size larger to compensate, as an oversized glove will bag and lose its shape.
How do I care for men's leather gloves?
After each wear, reshape the gloves and store them flat or stuffed with tissue paper to retain their form. Clean the surface with a soft dry cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning, use a specialist leather cleaner applied sparingly with a soft cloth. Condition the leather once or twice a season to prevent drying and cracking. Never machine wash, tumble dry, or expose to direct heat or sunlight.
How long do leather gloves last?
With proper care, a well-made pair of leather gloves will last ten to twenty years. The key factors are leather quality, lining integrity, and how they are stored between wears. Full-grain leathers such as Nappa, Nubuck and Peccary develop a patina over time rather than deteriorating, growing more characterful with age. The lining, particularly cashmere or silk, requires more attention and is typically the first element to show wear. Avoid overstretching the glove opening when putting them on, store them flat away from heat, and condition the leather once or twice a season. Gloves that are regularly rotated and properly maintained will outlast fast-fashion alternatives many times over.
