Marechiaro is a small hamlet in the Posillipo district of Naples, looking toward Vesuvius and the Sorrento Peninsula. In 1885, the Neapolitan poet Salvatore Di Giacomo noticed a window on a building at the water's edge, a carnation on the sill. From that image he wrote Marechiare, one of the most celebrated songs in the Neapolitan canon. That window still exists. A fresh carnation is still placed on the sill. A marble plaque with part of the score and the poet's name is fixed below it.

Two hand-stitched lines on the back of the hand, worked by experienced Neapolitan artisans, form an outline that recalls the finestrella: two decisive marks tracing the frame of the window that became a song. Cashmere-lined, hand-crafted in Naples.

Bordeaux, black, blue, cork. Each colour reads differently against the two stitched lines on the back. Named for the window. Shaped by the lines that frame it.
